I am not a classically trained musician. In fact, everything I know is self taught. That being said, my ear can hear when something is off, but I can’t tell you why or what note is causing the all fuss. This also prevents me from here some chords and knowing which chords they are.

There is the perfect program out there. One that I want, but is about $600, last I checked. It’s called Melodyne from Celemony. All the pros use it. It obviously is for much more than telling the user where a note sits, but that information is for another time.
